Caral is the oldest known city in the Americas, located in the Supe Valley of Peru. Dating back about 5,000 years (around 2600 BC), it predates the Incas by several millennia and flourished at the same time as the pyramids of Egypt. This vast pre-Columbian metropolis featured monumental pyramids, sunken circular plazas, and advanced urban planning — with no trace of warfare.
For this piece, the music is played interchangeably in 12, 3, or 4 beats. One can imagine walking through the immense avenues of this ancient city. The main theme of NATIVE, first introduced in the opening track, makes its reappearance here.

Caral est la plus ancienne cité connue des Amériques, située dans la vallée de Supe, au Pérou. Datée d’environ 5 000 ans (vers 2600 av. J.-C.), elle précède les Incas de plusieurs millénaires et prospérait à la même époque que l’Égypte des pyramides. Cette vaste mégalopole précolombienne comportait des pyramides monumentales, des places circulaires en contrebas et une planification urbaine avancée — sans aucune trace de guerre. Pour cette pièce, la musique est jouée indifféremment en 12, 3 ou 4 temps. On déambule dans les immenses allées de cette mégalopole précolombienne. Le thème principal de NATIVE, exposé dès la première pièce, y fait ici sa première réapparition.
